Dr. Frances Broyles explains what the rare disease acromegaly is. About 3.5 per million have this disease. Acromegaly is usually caused by pituitary tumor producing growth hormone. Acromegaly is characterized by the enlargement of the hands and feet and in facial structures, there is often protruding of the jaw, gaps in the teeth, or enlargement of the brow. There are symptoms such as fatigue, memory deficits, and there are a number of diseases associated with acromegaly.
